Irvin Ray Deal, 84, of Savannah, Georgia entered Heaven on the morning of Monday, October 14, 2013, after a brief stay at Hospice House in Savannah. Irvin had a gentle soul and caring heart, often masked by pranks he\'d play on those he loved the most.
Irvin was born in Jenkins County, Georgia, on October 21, 1928, the son of the late John and Ruby Roach Deal. Irvin grew up in Bulloch County and came to Savannah in the early 1950\'s to work at National Gypsum, where he worked until his retirement. He enjoyed renovating houses and cooking, but his true joys were raising his daughter Rita, gardening, and keeping track of the Deal family tree.
Irvin was married to Louise Wooten Deal who preceded him in death in 1986.
He is survived by his daughter, Rita Deal Patterson and her husband, Mitch, of Savannah; his brother Lonnie Deal and his brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Barbara Deal, all of Savannah; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Remer Franklin of Metter, Georgia and Ruth and Jack Bragg of Statesboro, Georgia; his sister-in-law, Edna Mae Deal of Statesboro, Georgia; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o\'clock Tuesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o\'clock Wednesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Interment will follow in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
