Irene Asvestas Pethis, 91, of Savannah and wife of James John Pethis, died Saturday evening, February 13, 2016, at Signature Healthcare of Savannah.
Born in New Britain, Connecticut, she was a daughter of the late Peter Asvestas and the late Elpiniki Hajediakos Asvestas. Mrs. Pethis was a member of St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church and was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband of 70 years, James J. Pethis; one daughter, Cynthia Samol and her husband, Bill; one son, Jimmy Pethis and his wife, Lori; three grandchildren, Cristina Bussolini and her husband, Cain, Morgan Pethis and Nikolas Pethis, and one great-granddaughter, Giana Bussolini.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 Wednesday at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church with the Trisagion Service being held at 5:30 o'clock.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o' clock Thursday morning at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church conducted Father Vasile Mihai. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in New Britain, Connecticut.
