SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Hymie Epstein, 60, of Savannah, Georgia, died Monday morning, June 13, 2011, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late Elliot Epstein and the late Sarah Kaplan Epstein. Hymie was a member of Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob and was the president of Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob Brotherhood since 1990. He graduated from Savannah High in 1969 and attended the University of Georgia receiving a degree in Journalism. Hymie was a licensed Insurance Agent with A.J. & C. Garfunkel for over fifteen years.
Surviving are one sister, Rosalyn Campbell and her husband, Bert, of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; three brothers, Norman Epstein and his wife, Jan, David Epstein and his wife, Kathy, and Jay Epstein and his wife, Donna, all of Savannah, Georgia; two uncles, Nathan Kaplan and his wife, Dell, of Plano, Texas, and Albert Epstein and his wife, Sandy, of Savannah, Georgia; four nephews, Elliott, Samuel, and Richard Epstein, and Louis Campbell and his wife, Jill; one niece, Shelley Caran and her husband, David; one great-niece, Zoe Caran and many close friends.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, June 14, 2011, at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
The family will sit Shiva at 117 East 63rd Street, Savannah, Georgia 31405.
