SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Herman Johnson, 82, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Elizabeth "Betty" Ann LaCour Johnson, died Monday morning, October 18, 2010, at his home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Garfield, Georgia, he was a son of the late Ira and Nellie Johnson. Mr. Johnson was an active member and deacon of Southside Baptist Church. He worked as a cost accountant for Kaiser Agricultural Chemical and Tetley Tea. He retired in 1994. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gene K. Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson; his sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Lea Johnson of Buford, Georgia, and David and Beth Johnson of Monroe, Georgia; four grandchildren, Ashley, Ben, Matthew and Katie; one sister, Iranell Johnson; one brother, Wesley Johnson of Albany, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Wednesday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning in Southside Baptist Church conducted by The Reverend Dr. Allan W. Bosson. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey - East.
