Herb Browne, 91, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Sidonia Browne, died Thursday morning, April 19, 2018, at his home.



Born in Coral Gables, Florida, he was a son of the late Lucius Oliver Browne, Sr. and the late Ruby Morrow Browne. Herb was a member of Skidaway Island United Methodist Church and a United States Navy veteran. He retired as Sr. Vice President of McNeil Laboratories, a division of Johnson and Johnson. He also founded and served as the Director of Pharmacists Against Drug Abuse, along with former First Lady Nancy Reagan and a coalition of pharmaceutical companies who educated and worked to prevent prescription drug abuse.



Surviving are his wife, Sidonia Browne, son Kirk Browne and wife Roz Browne of Birmingham AL, son Greg Browne and wife Rebecca Browne of Charlotte, NC, daughter Shayne West and husband Mark West of Savannah, GA, and daughter Ashlei Rogers of Woodstock, GA. He also had 7 grandchildren: Harrison West, Emma West, Rick Browne, Michael Browne, John Browne, Christopher Browne, Alicia (Browne) Seales''and 7 great-grandchildren.



Herb was very active in his church, and served with the jail ministry as a tutor and counselor. He also served as the founder of both the Savannah 'Bama Club' and the Bottle Brigade in 1988 on Skidaway, a group of nearly 60 active volunteers who pick up litter and keep the island clean and beautiful.



A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at the chapel of Skidaway Island United Methodist Church conducted by The Reverend James W. Giddens. Interment will be private.
