MIDDLEBURG, FLORIDA AND FORMERLY OF SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Henry Grant Sossaman, 60, of Middleburg, Florida and formerly of Savannah, Georgia, died Wednesday morning, July 6, 2011, at his home.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late Paul MaGuire Sossaman, Sr. and the late Doris Rawlings Sossaman. Henry was of the Baptist faith. He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War. Henry started as a bag boy at M & M Supermarkets and later retired from the Piggly Wiggly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Leslie Peterson, and his brother, Paul MaGuire Sossaman, Jr.
Surviving are his daughter, Katie Sossaman-Mason of Savannah, Georgia; one son, Grant Sossaman Sullivan; one sister, Suzanne S. Frye of Savannah, Georgia; one niece, Tammy Frye; two nephews, Eric Frye and Richard Sturgess; three great-nephews, Chase Brehany, Pierce Brehany and Maguire Frye; his fiancé, Joan Woodson of Middleburg, Florida; daughters; sons-in-law; grandchildren, and his dog, Sasha.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Friday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Samuel W. Watkins. Interment, with full military honors, will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery - North.
