SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Helen Shaffer Freeman, 83, of Savannah, Georgia, died Sunday afternoon, March 18, 2012, at Shadowmoss Plantation under the care of Odyssey Hospice.
Born in Akron, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Haven Shaffer and the late Gladys Kougher Shaffer. Helen was a former member of Epworth United Methodist Church and was a retired beautician. She was an accomplished artist who taught painting at Armstrong Atlantic State University.
Surviving are one daughter, Dana Stacy of Savannah, Georgia; two sons, Mitchell (Jennifer) Freeman and Jeff (Kathleen) Freeman, all of Savannah, Georgia; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Wednesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Nathan C. Godley. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey - East.
