Hazel M. Coleman, 87, of Savannah, Georgia, died Thursday evening, April 16, 2020, at St. Joseph's Hospital.



Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Allen Coleman and the late Ella Jones Coleman. Hazel was a faithful member of White Bluff United Methodist Church where she loved singing in the choir. She earned her undergraduate degree from Savannah State University and her Master of Social Work from Fordham University. Hazel lived in New York for 40 years and loved living in the Bronx. She was a retired nurse and social worker who worked for many years at Harlem Hospital. Hazel was the treasurer for the Dodoa Family Reunion and was a member of the Crusaders Golden Age.?? Most of all, she loved her church and her family and enjoyed traveling and shopping.



In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Priscilla Tremble Mainer, Lydia Lott, Eloise Mack, Mary E. Coleman, Jeanette Coleman Riley and Theresa Coleman, and three brothers, Allen Coleman, Jr., Edward Coleman and Lawrence Coleman.



Survivors include her nieces, Emma Jean Hall, Florence Bennett, Angie Mack Givens, Cheryl Smith, Patrica Gilchrist, Leomie Tremble, Debbie Coleman, Regina Taylor and Deborah Riley Draper; nephews, David Mack, Jr., Lawrence Sams, Richard Mack, Chris Mack, Gus Mack, Bruce Coleman, Eddie Coleman, Alan Lott, Ricky Lott and many other family members and friends.



With concern for the safety and health of our family and friends, a memorial service will be held at White Bluff United Methodist Church at a later date.



A private graveside service will be held in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Savannah conducted by the Reverend Josh Duckworth and the Reverend Kenneth R. Sharpe.
