Harvey Shatz, 74, of Bluffton, South Carolina and husband of Judith 'Judie' Chodash Shatz, died Monday afternoon, October 12, 2015, at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Nathan Waldo Shatz and the late Renee Manulkin Shatz. Harvey was a United States Army veteran having served in the Vietnam war. He was a member of Congregation Agudath Achim in Savannah where he was a member of the Ritual Committee and a former board member. Harvey was also a member of Temple Oseh Shalom in Bluffton and Congregation Beth Tikvah in Marlton, New Jersey. He was a retired commercial lighting and electrical supplies sales manager for Wesco. Harvey was a member and served on the Board of Directors for the United Ostomy Association of America, Inc. (UOAA). He was the Founder and President of the South Carolina Chapter of the UOAA and a former President of the South Jersey Chapter of the UOAA. Harvey was a member of the New Jersey Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee Shatz-Amdur.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Judith 'Judie' Chodash Shatz of Bluffton, South Carolina, and his brother, Stuart Shatz and his wife, Rachael, of Hardeeville, South Carolina.
The family will sit Shiva at the late residence from 7 until 9 o'clock on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings (October 18, 19 and 20, 2015.)
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Thursday morning at the graveside, Crescent Memorial Park in Pennsauken, New Jersey, conducted by Rabbi Gary Gans.
