Harry Albert Ness, 76, of Savannah, Georgia passed away on Friday December 8, 2023 due to lifelong complications from diabetes. He was born in York, Pennsylvania in April 9, 1947. In 1971, Harry married Linda (Lynn) Bechtol in Dayton, Ohio and celebrated 52 love-filled years together.
Harry worked in mortgage banking and was Vice President at Citizens Federal Mortgage from 1985-1998. He also spent his retirement years as an entrepreneur selling Lightning Bond Glue for over twenty years. He graduated with a Business Administration and Management degree from Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa in 1969. He graduated from Belmont High School in Dayton, Ohio 1965.
Harry was an avid sports fan and a big supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, and the Cincinnati Bengals. He was a strong advocate of organ donation, being a kidney transplant survivor himself after receiving his daughter’s kidney over 18 years ago. He loved bragging about his children and grandchildren. He was a generous person who knew no stranger.
Harry is survived by his wife Lynn and his daughters Traci Ness and Kristine (Adam) Watkins. He was a much-loved grandfather to granddaughters Mikayla and Olivia Day. He was a beloved uncle to his nephews Dan Ness, Doug (Susan) Ness, John (Vesi) Ness, and Ryan (Kelly) Ness. He was preceded in death by his parents John (Jack) and Lucille Ness, his brother John Ness and sister June (Andy) Garritano.
A celebration of life will be held at a time to be determined in the coming year. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association Diabetes Research, Education, Advocacy | ADA or the National Kidney Foundation The National Kidney Foundation.
