Harrison Edward 'Eddie' King III, age 53, of Savannah, Georgia died Sunday morning, November 13, 2016, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Eddie was an avid sailor in his youth. He loved to attend rock concerts and read every chance he could.
Eddie graduated from Mississippi University for Women in 1996. He was a dedicated Registered Nurse for over 30 years. He was named Nurse of the Year in 1996 at Baptist Memorial in Columbus, MS and in 2012 he was named Travel Nurse of the Year. Eddie was a very active volunteer sharing his time and talents with St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and school. He was a proud Cub Scout dad for Harry in BSA Pack #7 of Savannah.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melissa (Hatfield) King (an article contributor for Savannah Morning News and founder of savings blog ThisMommySavesMoney.com); their son, Harrison (Harry) King IV; his mother, Virginia Gavin King of Savannah; his father, Harrison (Pete) King Jr. (Myke) of Valparaiso, FL; his brother, Charles David King of Bethesda, MD; his in-laws, Marsha and Marlin Barker of Glennville, GA. Eddie loved his nephew Samuel (Sammy) Hammond like a son.
Eddie was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. He was a loving, dedicated, and encouraging husband, father, son and friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends and all of the lives that he touched.
Eddie continued to help others by donating his body for scientific research.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 17, at 5 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church with Fr. Gabriel Cummings officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations for the family can be made in care of St. Frances Cabrini Church.
