Hariette Bernstein was a remarkable woman. Born in Brooklyn in 1921, she was the first woman in her family to get a college degree. She was a WWII bride and was happily married to her beloved husband Murray for 69 years (until he passed away).
Family was always her priority and she raised her children to believe that if they studied and worked hard, they could accomplish anything. Her volunteer work was very important to her, both hands on community service, and having leadership roles in her various synagogues, sisterhoods, and other worthwhile, primarily Jewish organizations.
She was a bridge Life Master and loved to read and do the New York Times crossword puzzles every week. She also loved to work with her hands; in the early days she sewed much of her own clothing (and her daughter\'s). She also knitted, crocheted and did needlepoint and in her last month\'s took up beading.
She was a sports enthusiast, rooting for various baseball, football and basketball teams but she never forgave the Brooklyn Dodgers for moving to LA.
Harriette loved to travel and especially loved to travel with her family, who she took with her whenever and wherever she could. She went all over the world and still hungered to see more.
With all that she accomplished in her life, she was first and foremost a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a loving daughter, sister, aunt and great-aunt. She loved her immediate and extended family with all her heart and soul and we will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o\'clock Sunday morning, January 15, 2017, in the Eternal Light Chapel at Eden Memorial Park - 11500 Sepulveda Boulevard in Mission Hills, California. Interment will be in Eden Memorial Park.
