SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Harriet Weiss Karesh, 71, of Savannah, Georgia, wife of Jack L. Karesh, died Monday afternoon, July 6, 2009, at her home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Nathan Weiss and the late Rose Ginsberg Weiss. Mrs. Karesh was a member of Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sisterhood, Hadassah, and the B'nos Chesed Shel Emes, all of which are organizations of her synagogue. Next to her synagogue, Harriet most loved and adored being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Jack L. Karesh of Savannah, Georgia; two daughters, Michelle Tirey and Amy Fishman and her husband, Victor, all of Savannah, Georgia; five grandchildren, Nathan Tirey and his wife, Jen, Jason Tirey, Shannon Tirey, Rose Fishman and Abby Fishman; one sister, Betty Lasky and her husband, Larry, of Savannah, Georgia; one brother, Stanley Weiss and his wife, Sheila, of Savannah, Georgia, and her nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
