Harold 'Harry' Allen Mongin, 59, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Mercedes 'Toni' Silva Mongin, died Sunday afternoon, June 28, 2015, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Savannah, Georgia , he was a son of the late Harold Allen Mongin, Sr. and the late Willie Mae Walker Mongin. Harry was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He retired from Union Camp Corporation after 25 years of service. Harold later was a crane operator with Operating Engineers Local 474. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and listening to music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Rickert Mongin.
Surviving are his wife of 10 years, Mercedes 'Toni' Silva Mongin of Guyton, Georgia; one daughter, Taylor Mongin of Guyton, Georgia; one son, Brantley Mongin of Garden City, Georgia; two step-daughters, Kim Craven and her husband, Phil, of Guyton, Georgia and Haley Parker of Rincon, Georgia; one sister, Delores M. Fritts of Savannah, Georgia; two brothers, Roland K. 'Pete' Smith III and his wife, Hilda, of Bluffton, South Carolina and William 'Will' Gerald Mongin and his wife, Lucy, of Clyo, Georgia; five grandchildren, Chris Newman, Jr., Gracey Newman, Mercedes Newman, Anna Craven and Taylor Parker, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Tuesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Ronald P. Gatman, O.S.B. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
