Gwendolyn Dianne Lewis McCord, 73, of Pooler, Georgia and wife of Schubert 'Bert' Francis Coffin McCord, died Thursday morning, November 10, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Herman Lamar Lewis and the late Carobelle Hubbard Lewis. Mrs. McCord was a member of Pooler First Baptist Church. She was in the graduating class of Savannah Christian Preparatory School in 1961 and was a 1964 graduate of the Warren A. Candler School of Nursing. Mrs. McCord began her nursing career at St. Joseph's Hospital in downtown Savannah and retired from St. Joseph's Hospital after 38 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn H. Lewis.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Schubert Francis Coffin McCord of Pooler; one daughter, Angela McCord Tyner and her husband, Jonathan, of Pooler; one son, Brian L. McCord of Pooler; one granddaughter, Carrie Elizabeth Bacon of Pooler; one step-grandson, Layton Tyner of Pooler; one sister, Martha Richardson of Griffin; one brother, Ronnie Lewis of Locust Grove, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Friday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Charles G. Cooper and Sister Maureen Connolly. Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
