SAVANNAH, GEORGIA -????Guyton 'Tom' Louis Thompson, United States Navy (Ret), 74, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Lynn Jeannette Glasgow Thompson, died Saturday morning, October 8, 2011, at his home.
Born in Chester, Georgia, he was a son of the late William 'Jack' Ellis Thompson and Lillian Mullis Thompson. Mr. Thompson was retired from the United States Navy after 28 years of service. He was an Engineer at Candler Hospital for many years.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Lynn Jeannette Glasgow Thompson of Savannah, Georgia; two daughters, Laura Lanette Nichols and her husband, Jeff, of Washington State, Beverly Kathleen Tyler and her husband, Terry, of Savannah, Georgia; four sons, Guyton Louis Thompson, Jr. and his wife, Peggy, of Maryland, Joseph Lynn Thompson and his wife, Elicia, of Atlanta, Georgia, David Kenneth Thompson and his wife, Lori, of Rincon, Georgia, Mike Thompson and his wife, Michele, of Savannah, Georgia; two sisters, Gladys Howard of Illinois, and Charlotte and her husband, John, of Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren, Mandy, Brenton, Season, Lynsie, Megan, Allison, Stephanie, Shawn, Shane, Sarah, Gracie, Noah, Joseph, Jr., Savannah, Gabi, and one great-grandson, Benjamin Michael Bruton.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o\'clock Tuesday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at 2 o\'clock Tuesday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend M. Douglas Patterson. Interment will be private.
