October 9, 1937 — January 23, 2023

Gloria Morgan Sinclair died peacefully Monday January 23rd in her home surrounded by her loving family. Gloria was born on October 9, 1937 in Clyo, Georgia to Lowell Daniel, Sr and Marguerite Exley Morgan.

Gloria graduated from Effingham County High School in 1955 and was named Miss Effingham County that same year. She married Joseph Porter Sinclair, III on September 5, 1960 and they raised three sons Michael, David and Steven. Gloria was deeply immersed in all aspects of her family. She attended all sports and band events, had everyone ready for church every Sunday and always a well thought out meal. She enjoyed many long summer days at Tybee Island with family and friends.

Gloria was an active and dedicated member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and St. John’s Episcopal Church for over sixty years. She participated in many organizations in her church life including Episcopal Church Women (ECW), Altar Guild and Coffee Hour. She especially enjoyed serving as a docent at the church social hall, The Greene Meldrim House.

Gloria retired from the Savannah Chatham County Board of Public Education where she was employed as a ParaProfessional at Jacob G. Smith and Hesse Elementary Schools. For many years Gloria worked with children who had special needs. She loved those children in a special way and they loved her.

In retirement Gloria was focused on her family life and grandchildren and thoroughly participated in all of their birthdays, sports, and the many many dance recitals and church events. This brought her great joy. She was a wonderful cook and prepared countless meals for the holidays and family occasions. Her family especially loved her Lemon Pound cakes and Coconut cakes.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph Porter Sinclair, III, brother Lowell Daniel Morgan, Jr, mother in law Madee Gray Sinclair, brother in law John Welch Garmany, Sr and nephew Lt. Col John Welch Garmany, Jr. She is survived by children Joseph Michael (Mary Ann), John David (Andria) and Steven Morgan (Julia), grandchildren Steven Zachery Sinclair, Andrew Morgan Sinclair, Hillary Sinclair Petnuch (Craig), Margaret Elizabeth Sinclair, Kelsey Leigh Sinclair (Clayton) and Mary Catherine Sinclair, great grandchildren Maddox Sinclair and James Petnuch, brother Ronald Exley Morgan (Charlene), sister in laws Betty Logan Morgan and Carole Sinclair Garmany.
