Glenda Jean Massey Fitzsimmons, 83, of Savannah, Georgia, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Azalealand Nursing Home surrounded by her family and loving caretaker, Aratavia Fulton.
Glenda was born in Walker County, Georgia, April 27, 1938, to Fred and Oba Jewell Massey. After her career as a florist in Flintstone, Georgia, she moved to the Savannah area to be close to her children and grandchildren. Glenda, 'Nanny', was known for her gift of cooking, and especially baking, by all who knew her.
She leaves behind her three children, Rebecca Fitzsimmons Brackett (Tommy), Michael Van Fitzsimmons, and Russel Thomas Fitzsimmons, three siblings, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Two more great-grandchildren are expected soon.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, three other siblings, and her beloved dog, Ottie.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Friday, February 4th, 2022, at 1 P.M.
The family would like to thank the staff at Azalealand Nursing Home for their tireless and loving care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association or the Humane Society.
