Gertrude Scheer Barr, 92, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Irving Robert Barr, died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Savannah on November 13, 1922, she was a daughter of the late William Scheer and Dora Gaspin Scheer. Mrs. Barr was a member of Bnai Brith Jacob Synagogue, where she was a member of the Sisterhood and Bnai Brith Jacob women. She was a homemaker and an avid health enthusiast. Mrs. Barr was a graduate of Savannah High School and had a love for the arts including music and painting. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Surviving are two daughters, Eta Longwater and her husband, Stephen, and Syril Barnes and her husband, Mark, all of Savannah, Georgia; one son, Dr. Joey Barr of Savannah, Georgia; one brother, Samuel Scheer and his wife, Marianne, of Savannah, Georgia; and five grandchildren, Alysse Longwater, Abby Longwater, Sophie Longwater, Torie Shores and her husband, Eric, and Joel Barnes; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at 3 o\'clock Monday afternoon, at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Jeffrey Gordon.
