Gerald P. Wells, Sr., 85, of Savannah, passed away peacefully at his home on February 11, 2025. A proud Savannah native, he was a hardworking man, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a respected member of his community.
Gerald was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Evelyn Lynch Wells.Together, they raised five children and built a life centered on family and hard work. He and Evelyn owned and operated a successful land-clearing business before he finished a career with the City of Tybee.
He is survived by his children: Virginia Lee Bruner (Clyde) of Metter, Diane Marie Patrick of Savannah, Gerald P. Wells, Jr. (Karen) of Savannah, Edward Russell Wells (Debbie) of Savannah, and Timothy Paul Wells (Jennifer) of Metter. He also leaves behind his sister, Irene, as well as his cherished grandchildren: Christopher Bruner, Michael Joseph Pena, Stephen Matthew Pena, and Gerald P. Wells, III, along with many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Gerald’s life was defined by his dedication to his family and his strong work ethic. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gerald's funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock, Saturday morning, February 15, 2025 at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue in Savannah. Reverend Jason Talsness will officiate. Internment will follow in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
