Georgia Fessopulos Lamas, widow of the late Theodore (Ted) G. Lamas, passed away on October 19, 2024.Born in Savannah GA on April 18, 1924, she was a 1941 honor graduate of Savannah High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Cromartie (Mahany) of Peachtree City GA and Melissa Calzada (Ramon) of Fernandina Beach FL, niece Connie Lane, nephews Fr. James Carellas, John Menzelos and George Menzelos as well as favorite cousins.
She was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church and the Ladies Philoptochos Society. For many years she was active with the Greek Festival as cashier and cook. Georgia never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcome. For 25 years Georgia was an active volunteer with Generation One where she met and made many friends. Her favorite pastimes were golf, line dancing, bridge and gardening. She loved teaching her friends the secrets of how to make her special Greek recipes.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 22 at 6 o'clock in the evening at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church - 14 W. Anderson Street, Savannah, followed by Trisagion prayers and services at 6:30 in the evening. A reception will follow at the church.
Georgia's funeral Service will be held at 11 o'clock in the morning Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church - 14 W. Anderson Street, Savannah, with Fr. Thomas Guerry officiating assisted by Fr. James Carellas. Burial will follow in Greenwich Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Renovation Fund or Ladies Philoptochos Society.
