George Robert Kelton, Jr., 85, of Guyton, Georgia and husband of Georgia Mae Jorgenson Kelton, died Friday evening, October 21, 2022, at Memorial University Medical Center.



Born in Gardiner, Maine, he was a son of the late George Robert Kelton, Sr. and the late Marie Mae Lillian Auclair. He served eleven years in the United States Army during the Korean War. After the Army, he served as ocean-going tugboat captain for many years. He then worked in heavy equipment operation as a long haul trucker. He has various interests and hobbies including salt-water fishing, carpentry, multiple inventive projects, as well as writing a book.



However, most important to him was his family. The great love near the end of his life between Georgia and him was a great blessing to both families in so many ways.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, George Robert Kelton III.



Survivors include his wife, Georgia Mae Jorgenson Kelton; five children, Cynthia Kelton Driggers and her husband Wilbur Carr, Jonathan Daniel Kelton, Ricky Alllen Kelton, Ronald Wayne Kelton and his wife Tonya, Joseph 'Joey' Arnold Kelton and his wife April; sister, Audrie G. Kelton; four step-children, Nancy Gines and her husband Eddie, Linda Britton and her husband Red, and Brenda Britton.



The memorial service will be held at 1 o'clock, Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Glennville Veterans Cemetery Chapel ' 8819 U.S. Highway 301, Glennville, Georgia.
