George Farren 'Sonny' Hambrick, Jr., 54, of Savannah, Georgia, and husband of Rhonda Crosby Hambrick, died Monday morning, September 7, 2015, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of Ann Hall Allen and the late George Farren Hambrick, Sr. Sonny was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church, where he and Rhonda taught children's Sunday school for more than 15 years. He was a 1979 graduate of Savannah Christian Preparatory School and a 1983 graduate of The University of Georgia. Sonny was a member of Rotary Club of Savannah West and the Home Builders Association of Greater Savannah. He was an account executive for Bernard Williams Insurance and Financial Services. Sonny was an outdoorsman who enjoyed boating and fishing. He loved supporting The University of Georgia Bulldogs with his Coffee Bluff Club friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Pat Crosby.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Rhonda Denise Crosby Hambrick of Savannah, Georgia; one daughter, Macy Elisabeth Hambrick, and one son, George Farren 'Trey' Hambrick III, both students at Georgia Southern University; his mother, Ann Hall Allen of Savannah, Georgia; one sister, Pamela H. O'Connor and her husband, Pat, of Savannah, Georgia; his father-in-law, Jack Crosby of Garden City, Georgia; his sister-in-law, Deborah Strickland of Savannah, Georgia; one niece, Kason Fogarty and two nephews, Christopher Fogarty and Patrick Strickland.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Wednesday at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 12:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at White Bluff United Methodist Church conducted by The Reverend John A. Haney. Interment will be private.
