George DeLoache Barry, 64, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Dominique McGinley Barry, died Monday morning, September 9, 2013, at his home and under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he was a son of the late Francis 'Frank' Ignatius Barry and the late Zaida Roberts Barry. George was of the Catholic faith. He was a United States Navy veteran. George was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 16, where he earned his Eagle Scout award. He was a welder for more than 40 years.
Surviving are his wife, Dominique McGinley Barry; one daughter, Emily Chatham Barry Blackmon and her husband, Boone; one son, Jason Andrew Barry; one granddaughter, Ally Brooke Blackmon; two sisters, Susan Barry Morgan and Jean Barry Hester and her husband, John; one step-sister, Tina Smith; one step-brother, Smitty Smith, Jr. and his wife, Mary; nieces and nephews, and step-nieces and step-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Wednesday at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue, with the memorial service being held at 7 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. Private interment will be held at a later date.
