Gary Irvin Froistad, 75, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Marlis Joann Henderson Froistad, died Thursday morning, October 25, 2018, at Hospice Savannah.
Born in Ludlow, South Dakota, he was a son of the late Irvin Froistad and the late Ella Mildred Runestad Froistad Hafner. Gary was a member of St. Paul\'s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He graduated high school in Bowman, North Dakota, earned his Bachelor and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of South Dakota. Gary and Marlis moved to Savannah 10 years ago from Shawnee, Kansas. He was a devout family man who lived his life according to God's plan. Gary and his brothers shared a passion for geology. They enjoyed hunting for fossils, arrowheads and collecting geodes on their numerous excursions.
Surviving are his wife of almost 53 years, Marlis Joann Henderson Froistad of Savannah, Georgia; two daughters, Steph Burns and her husband, Dan, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Kristin Froistad and her husband, Nick Blosser, of Savannah, Georgia; four grandchildren, Jennifer Kostrunek and her husband, Brian, Travis Cavender, Paine Froistad and Smith Blosser; one great-granddaughter, Skylar Kostrunek; one sister, Cindy Floyd and her husband, Ron, of Ludlow, South Dakota; three brothers, Larry Froistad and his wife, Vonnie, of Rapid City, South Dakota, Jim Froistad and his wife, Karen, of Aurora, Colorado, and Terry Hafner and his wife, Laurie, of Ludlow, South Dakota, and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 until12 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Paul\'s Evangelical Lutheran Church - 10 West 31st Street, Savannah.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Saturday at St. Paul\'s Evangelical Lutheran Church conducted by The Reverend Peter J. Hartmann.
