SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - G. Pauline Firebaugh, 93, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Clinton W. Firebaugh, died Saturday morning, August 4, 2012, at Habersham House and under the care of Odyssey Hospice.
The daughter of A. Paul Fellinger and Mary Clo Tison Fellinger, she lived most of her life in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Alec Jack Benoist, and two brothers, Lowell Fellinger and David Fellinger.
Pauline will always be remembered for her quiet and gentle spirit, her famous sweet pickles, and her love of reading. Before moving to Savannah in 2002 to be near her children, she collected a library of over 2,000 books. She was a member of West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon and was active in many church ministries. In Savannah she was a member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Rita Spitler and her husband, Mike, of Pooler, Georgia, and Jane Benoist Frazier and her husband, Dr. William "Bill", of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; one son, Dan Firebaugh of Boynton Beach, Florida; ten grandchildren, Scott Spitler, Adam Spitler, Clay Spitler, Joshua Benoist, Mindy Heitman, Matthew Benoist, Casey Firebaugh, Paul Firebaugh, Tison Firebaugh and Mary Firebaugh; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Erika Fellinger of St. Louis, Missouri; one niece, Nancy Fellinger and one nephew, Bill Fellinger.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon, August 18, 2012, at the graveside, Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, conducted by The Reverend Brad Henson.
