Franklyn Francis Bolander, 98, of Savannah, Georgia, died December 9, 2020.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a son of the late John William Bolander and the late Gertrude Baer. Franklyn served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II including the capture and occupation of Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands. After the war he entered the United States Air Force and served honorably until his retirement. He became an insurance agent with Lutheran Brotherhood, which is now known as Thrivent.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Diana Deitchman Bolander; his parents; one sister, and six brothers.
Surviving are his children: a son, Franklyn Bolander, Jr., a daughter, Diana Bolander (Cathy), and a daughter, Doris Hopkins (Craig); grandchildren, Stephanie McCartney (Travis) and Craig Hopkins, Jr. (Renee), and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning, December 14, 2020, at the graveside, Hillcrest Abbey ' West, conducted by the Very Reverend Dr. William Willoughby III.
