SAVANNAH - Francine Engel Robin, 74, of Savannah, Georgia, entered into eternal rest
the morning of Saturday, August 10, 2024. Relatives and friends are invited to attend
her funeral services at graveside Wednesday, August 14, 2024 in Emanu-El Cemetery
(Maryville), Sycamore Avenue at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc.
Downtown Chapel.
Francine was born November 16, 1949 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the
late Louis B. Engel and Ida Levin Engel (OBM). She graduated from Rivers High School
in Charleston, SC. She attended the University of South Carolina and received her
registered nursing degree from the Carolinas Medical Center School of Nursing. She
was director of Nursing and Health Services at the American Red Cross in Savannah
and then spent many years in the Memorial Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care
Unit where so many families fell in love with her for the way she cared for and loved
their babies. She then worked at Candler/St. Joseph’s Hospital in the pediatric ICU unit.
Francine served her community and synagogue in Savannah as one time president of
Bnai Brith Jacob sisterhood. She was very active in Women’s American ORT a teaching
organization where she was also one time president. She spent many hours
volunteering for the Susan B. Komen organization, the Savannah Trade Center and
many other charitable organizations. She was a tireless volunteer, loved helping others,
but most importantly she loved her family above all else.
Francine is survived by her two sons: Brian Robin and Marc Robin both of Savannah,
GA; grandsons: Sam and Alex Robin of Savannah, GA; two brothers: Dr. Michael Engel
(Debbie) of Charleston, SC and Dr. Andrew Engel (Bari) of Marietta, GA. She is also
survived by her nieces: Jennie Kooden (Aaron) and Chloe Engel both of Atlanta, GA;
nephews: Taylor Engel (Angie) and Blake Engel both of Los Angeles, CA and Ethan
Engel of Marietta, GA. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 884
