Frances Ada Bethune Wells, 85, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of John Aloysius Wells, died Sunday evening, August 24, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Albertville, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Robert E. Bethune and the late Lillie Mae Stanfield Bethune. Mrs. Wells was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She was a sales clerk at Kmart on Victory Drive for 19 years.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Wells Purvis and Frances Maureen Wells Bateman and her husband, Curtis, all of Savannah, Georgia, and Debra Lehr Gay and her husband, Kenneth, of Springfield, Georgia; one son, John Robert 'Johnny' Wells and his wife, Patti, of Guyton, Georgia; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lucille Gulley and her husband, Nathan, and Brenda Sparks and her husband, Ryman, all of Mobile, Alabama, Carolyn Youngblood of Baxley, Georgia and Dorothy Mae Murray of North Carolina; two brothers, Dennis Bethune and Richard Bethune and his wife, Sally, all of Alabama, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Tuesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend A. Brooks Cail. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Johnny Robert Lynn, John Curtis Bateman, Patrick Aloysius Bateman, Frances Andrew Wells Bateman, Richard Andrew Sizemore II and Kenneth Kasey Andrew Sizemore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Matthew Gay, Conner Wells Bateman and William Bentley Bateman.
