Frances Bowen Lightsey, 89, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Hilary Lightsey, died Wednesday afternoon, July 20, 2016, at Hospice Savannah and surrounded by her family.
Born in Danville, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Reverend B. M. Bowen and the late Birdie McCauley Bowen. Mrs. Lightsey was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. She taught kindergarten at Hancock Day School.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her eight brothers and sisters, and a great-grandson, Samuel Griffin Hoshlyk.
Surviving are her son, Jerome Lightsey and his wife, Diane; a daughter, Jorene 'Jo' Bagley and her husband, Ernie; three grandchildren, Jessica Lightsey and her husband, Mike, Angela Lightsey Dean and her husband, David, and Allison Rickman and her husband, Brian; five great-grandchildren, Miles Hoshlyk, Greta Hoshlyk, Natalie Dean, Lily Rickman, and Emma Rickman.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Sunday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Enoch L. Hendry. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
