Frances Louise May Jensen, 77, of Savannah, Georgia and wife of John Dannemann Jensen, died Saturday morning, October 15, 2016, at The Oaks at The Marshes of Skidaway Island and surrounded by her family.



Born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, she was a daughter of the late Lester May and the late Elma Ferguson Rhoades. Frances was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Temple. She was a graduate of Savannah High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Armstrong State University. Frances was a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital for 20 years. First and foremost Frances loved her family. Her second love was helping and doing for others. Frances was a talented seamstress who could make anything. She crocheted hats and scarves for the homeless and made smocked gowns for premature babies. Frances was an avid doll collector and enjoyed making clothes for her dolls and those of her grandchildren. She also liked walking and exercising and knew all of the golf course paths in her community.



In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Jensen.



Surviving are her husband, John Dannemann Jensen of Savannah, Georgia; three daughters, Nancy Thomson and her husband, David, Sonja Fields and her husband, Jamie, and Dina Jensen, all of Savannah, Georgia; two sons, Richard James and his wife, Rhonda, of Reidsville, Georgia and Randy James of Shellman Bluff; twelve grandchildren, Cherese Waters, Jessica Thomson, Mallory Poythress and her husband, Rich, Justin Fields, Bill Edgy IV, Jake James and his wife Georgette, Jessica Hill and her husband, Jake, Rhyne Collins and her husband, Lee, R. L. James, Jr. and his wife, Rebecca, Haley Johnson and her husband, Tyler, Brandon James and Laci James; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Margarett Boyer; her sister, Marian, and her brother, Michael.



The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in the Wilder Chapel of Calvary Baptist Temple ' 4625 Waters Avenue.



The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in the Wilder Chapel of Calvary Baptist Temple conducted by The Reverend B. Derward Poole, Jr. Interment will be private.



The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at The Oaks at The Marshes of Skidaway Island and Hospice Compassus for the excellent care given to Frances.
