SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Florette Jacobs Epstein, 99, of Savannah, Georgia, died Wednesday morning January 26, 2011, at Hospice Savannah.
Born in Charleston, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Louis Jacobs and the late Ethel Pearlstein Jacobs. Mrs. Epstein was a member of Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob and was a former president of Hadassah. She was a very active member in the community for over fifty years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Sadie Lee Odrezin, Miriam Bernstein, Betty Some and two brothers, Melvin Jacobs and Isaac Jacobs.
Surviving are one daughter, Vickie Gell and her husband, Gerson, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; two sons, Sol Epstein of Agawam, Massachusetts, and Sanford Epstein and his wife, Elinor, of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Jeannette Wolper of Summerville, South Carolina, and Doris Russ of Seattle, Washington, and three grandchildren, Michael Epstein and his wife, Rimi, Ori Epstein and Mark Epstein.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
