Florence K. Alterbaum, 93, died peacefully on Tuesday morning after a brief illness.
She was born June 15, 1922 to Benjamin and Ethel Karpf , both of blessed memory, in Savannah. She lived her early years in New York City, but spent her entire adult life in Savannah. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Richard. Florence and Richard, owned and operated Teens and Juniors on Broughton Street for many years. Later on, Florence worked in Punch and Judy where she did what she loved, which was selling fashionable clothing and furniture to children. She will always be remembered for her kind, gentle demeanor, humor, and sweet smile.
She is survived by her three children, Lisa Cohen and Tommy Cohen, of Alpharetta, Tommy Alterbaum, of Atlanta and Steve Alterbaum, of Savannah. Florence had four grandchildren, Richard and Stephanie Cohen, Arielle Alterbaum, and Emily Alterbaum. She had many wonderful nieces and nephews whom she adored.
The funeral service will be held at 9:00 o'clock Wednesday morning, June 24, at Bonaventure Cemetery and conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
