Flavia Ruth Lovelace Ross, passed away February 10, 2025 in Savannah Georgia.
Born October 21, 1941, she grew up in rural Mississippi near West Point. When older she had a single child, Linda Langford. She was preceded in death by her daughter Linda (Langford) Harrison, and her siblings Bonnie Spense, Ann Kelly, and Bobby Lovelace.
Ruth traveled over a large part of the US while working various jobs.
The turning point in her life was when she went to work for Loman's Department Store. First as a clerk and later as a manager. She was transferred to Savannah Georgia in 1985 to open a new store in Factors Walk. It was during that time she met the love of her life Charlie Ross. In March of 1988 they married and celebrated 34 year of life together.
She enjoyed the outdoors and was a Georgia Master Gardener, a member of the Windsor Forest Garden Club, and Ladies Auxiliary of the Savannah Elks Lodge 183. Well known to friends and family as one who was generous in donations of plants to various organizations. With her husband Charlie they traveled to Holland, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Croatia, the Caribbean Islands, Panama Canal, Mexico, Alaska, Canada, Nova Scotia, and Hawaii Island.
She lived her life and enjoyed her family to the fullest.
She is survived by her husband Charlie Ross, four step children, thirteen grandchildren, 10 great grand children, 14 great great grand children.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 19, 2025, 1 o'clock until 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, Georgia. Ruth's memorial service will immediately follow at 2 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Daryl Hopson will officiate.
The funeral service will be live streamed on the Gamble Funeral Home YouTube channel.
