Ethyl Richman Rosenzweig

d. July 11, 2012

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA -  Ethyl Richman Rosenzweig, 94, of Savannah, Georgia, died Wednesday morning, July 11, 2012, at her home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Ethyl Richman Rosenzweig was the youngest of 6 children of Eva and Selig Richman who immigrated to Savannah from their native Russia.  She lived her full 94 years here.  She was a graduate of Commercial High School and worked as a bookkeeper until she married her childhood sweetheart, David Rosenzweig, with whom she shared 67 blissful years of marriage.  Together they raised 3 children.
She had a remarkable zest for living.  A gracious hostess who loved to cook and entertain family and friends, Ethyl had a knack for making everyone feel welcomed and at home.  This generous and loving spirit brought her many friends and deep, abiding relationships.
She had a variety of lifelong interests.  An avid reader and supporter of the arts, music, theater, and dance, she was also an accomplished craftswoman and enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, and knitting.  Her altruistic spirit manifested in years of community work through many volunteer organizations:  Hadassah, where she served as president, B'nai Brith Women, United Jewish Appeal, docent at the Mickve Israel Temple, Pink Lady at Memorial Hospital, and the League of Women Voters.  She and her husband David hosted several students through the Experiment in International Living.  In their own lifelong quest for learning, they traveled extensively and were always engaged in taking courses and attending Elderhostels.
Ethyl led a rich and fulfilling life. She had a remarkable capacity for accepting change, was always open to new ideas and people. Her cheerful, upbeat attitude touched everyone she encountered, and many people rightly considered her their special person.  She was deeply loved and cherished by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Rosenzweig is survived by two daughters, Harriet Zabusky-Zand and her husband, Howard Zabusky, and  Eve Bluett and her husband, Gerry Bluett; one son, Edward Z. Rosenzweig and his wife, Barbara Nama; three grandsons, Adam Zand, Noah Lazarus, Matthew Rosenzweig and 4 great-grandchildren, Lucas Bunch, Lisa Bunch, Tyler Bosco and Sawyer Zand.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Robert Haas.
