Essie Elizabeth Davis Sanders, 102, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Jack Whitfield Sanders, died Saturday morning, November 17, 2018, at Morningside of Savannah.



Born in Barnwell, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John Davis and the late Carrie Ready Davis. Mrs. Sanders was a former member of Bluffton United Methodist Church. She was a kindergarten teacher and later worked as a dental assistant for 20 years for Dr. Louis L. Castilian. Mrs. Sanders and her husband lived in Bluffton for more than 20 years before moving back to Savannah.



In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jack Whitfield Sanders, Jr.; two sisters, and three brothers.



Survivors include one son, Dr. Billy C. Sanders and his wife, Harriett; daughter-in-law, Janice Sanders; five granddaughters, Carol Walker and her husband, Kenny, Diane Ramage and her husband, Jack, Julie Chisolm and her husband, Jamie, Frieda DeQuick, and Tabatha Williams and her husband, Johnny, and twelve great-grandchildren.



The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the graveside, Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, conducted by Chaplain Ryan Wilson.
