Erline Shearouse Strode, 84, of Savannah, Georgia, and widow of Major Marvin Grigsby Strode, Savannah Police Department (Ret.), died Tuesday morning, October 19, 2021, at her home.
Born in Marlow, Georgia she was a daughter of the late Hubert T. Shearouse and the late Emma Lee Colson. A 1954 graduate of Savannah High School, Erline was also a talented seamstress for over thirty-five years at Tailor Made Draperies, where she helped make custom draperies for the White House Oval Office, several movie stars and fortune five hundred companies. She was known for her beautiful handwriting and how well she raised her four children. Erline was a lifetime member of Life Church at Ardsley Park. Most of all, Erline loved spending time with her family and friends.??
Survivors include her children, Sammy Strode (Maria), Greg Strode (Twila), Suzanne Schuman (Drew), and Randy Strode; grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; siblings, John Shearouse, Charles Shearouse, and Emma Watts.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Thursday evening, October 21, 2021, at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning, October 22, 2021, at Life Church at Ardsley Park ' 3802 Bull Street, conducted by the Reverend Dr. Jon Tillman, and the Reverend Barry Giddens. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
