SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Jean Parks Dickinson, 80, of Savannah, Georgia, wife of Donald "Don" M. Dickinson, died Monday afternoon, January 17, 2011, at Hospice Savannah.
Born in Harlan, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Grey Parks and the late Elease Wilburn Parks. Jean and Don moved from Canada to Savannah in 1960. She was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Memorial University Medical Center. Jean was a beloved wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and sister. Jean, as everyone knew her, was a proud coal miner's daughter who gave unselfishly to family and friends alike. She opened her home and her heart to all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.
Surviving are her husband, Donald "Don" Mahan Dickinson of Savannah, Georgia; two sons, Scott Dickinson and his wife, Patricia, of Savannah, Georgia and Todd Dickinson and his wife, Kathy, of Aynor, South Carolina; seven sisters, Norma Parks Bryant, Una Parks Rhea, Eva Parks Hurt, Jan Parks Underwood, Donna Parks Railey, Sharon Parks Doepel, Ginger Parks Osborne; six grandchildren, Bruce Jue, Jonathan Dickinson, Jamie Jue, Christopher Dickinson, Jennifer Greever, Phillip Dickinson; three great grandchildren, Arya Jue, Jordan Dickinson and Aaden Dikinson.
In addition to her parents Emma was preceded in death by four siblings, June Parks Owens, Patsy Parks, Charles Filden Parks, Kay Parks and Karen Parks.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 o'clock Thursday at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by Charlie Wilkins. Entombment will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park-East.
