Emily Gearhart Owens Kehler, 70, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of William David 'Bill' Kehler, M.D., died early Monday morning, February 1, 2016, at Memorial University Medical Center.



Born in Roanoke, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Jesse H. Gearhart, Jr. and the late Emily Whitlow Gearhart. She was born with music in her heart, and she used her gifts to share in worshipping the Lord. She was a highly accomplished musician, serving as a music director and organist since she was 16. She was a graduate of the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and received her master's degree from Syracuse University. She was a member of the American Guild of Organists, the National Choristers Guild, and the Savannah Chapter of Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), among many other organizations. She was also an acclaimed concert organist. She had served as the Music Director/Organist locally for Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church and St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. She was most recently active with Skidaway Island United Methodist Church and Messiah Lutheran.



She is survived by one daughter, Shannon Harman Kerr, of Davis, West Virginia; two sons, Steven Harman, of Woodside, California, and Richard Owens, of Washington, DC; and two grandchildren, Kevin Kerr and Alex Kerr.



A memorial service will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning, February 5, 2016, at Skidaway Island United Methodist Church conducted by The Reverend James W. Giddens. Interment will be private.



The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service.
