Elsa Valerie Kirk Hinds, 91, wife of Otto Hinds, died Wednesday evening, July 15, 2015 at Marsh Haven Senior Living in Savannah with her family at her bedside.
Born in Kettering, England, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Kirk and the late Jennie Binder Kirk. Mrs. Hinds was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker who focused on family and loved sewing and knitting.
Mrs. Hinds met her husband at the Hotel George in Kettering, England, while he was serving in World War II.
Surviving are her husband of 72 years, Otto Hinds of Savannah, Georgia; three sons, Dr. Marshall Hinds, M.D. and his wife, Debbie of Savannah, Georgia; John Hinds and his wife, Victoria of Rock Hill, South Carolina; and Brian Hinds and his wife, Paula of Lawrenceville, Georgia; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9 until 10 o'clock Saturday morning at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Michael E. Myers. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey.
