SAVANNAH, GEORGIA AND ROANOKE, VIRGINIA - Ellen Richardson Trout, 88, of Savannah, Georgia and formerly of Roanoke, Virginia, widow of David Eugene Trout, died Wednesday afternoon, June 23, 2010, surrounded by her loved ones at Savannah Square under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Roanoke, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Preston Richardson and the late Mayola Gillespie Richardson. Mrs. Trout was a longtime member of Melrose United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She was an active member of the Gideon Auxiliary, the United Methodist Women and Clowning Around, where she was fondly known as Lollipop. Mrs. Trout and the other members of Clowning Around visited patients in Roanoke area nursing homes and children in hospitals. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Judith Sink Fuller.
Surviving are three children, Jeanne Ellen Lawson and her husband, Dave, of Nellysford, Virginia, David Preston Trout and his wife, Pam, of Charleston, South Carolina, and Renee Bowles and her husband, Reggie, of Savannah, Georgia; two sisters, Charlotte Hubbard and Betty Haynes, both of Roanoke, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Frankel and her husband, Matt, Rebecca Biggins and her husband, Kevin, Brian David Lawson, Mary Beth Trout, Julie Trout McMahan and her husband, Brian, Brent David Bowles and Cameron Nicole Bowles; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Monday evening at Oakey's Funeral Service, South Chapel (4257 Brambleton Avenue, SW), Roanoke.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning in the chapel of Oakey's Funeral Service, South Chapel, conducted by The Reverend E. Gary Marshall.  Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
Pallbearers will be Brent Bowles, Brian Lawson, Rey Santacreu, Brian McMahan, Dewey Sink and Mark Sink.
