On July 5th the world lost a wonderful beacon of light when Marguerite Elise Lanier Tillman slipped the bonds of this earth at age 95 to return to the Lord. She passed peacefully in her sleep after sustaining an injury weeks ago.
Elise led a full life and was loved by many and amazed many more with her seemingly endless supply of energy. She raked her yard and cut her own grass well into her 80’s taking pride in a well-kept yard. Elise and her sister Betty began delivering Meals On Wheels which she carried on the tradition well into her early 90’s. She loved the Lord and all the members of Montgomery Presbyterian church. Elise was instrumental in organizing the Operation Christmas Child sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse for her church for many years delivering at least 70 boxes each year. She was even named Queen of the Montgomery Presbyterian church’s annual parade to collect can goods to help stock the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Elise was predeceased by her husband Huey and son Mark.
She is survived by her sons Steven (Diane), Tommy (Laurie) and daughter in law Kris, grandchildren Stephanie, Zachary, Alyssa, Katie and Joshua Tillman, step grandchildren Amanda Welsh, Jimmy Welsh (Amanda) and Kendall Sheill (Brandon). She is also survived by great-grandchildren Lilia and Marlee Tillman as well as several step great-grandchildren Courtney, Renee and Serena Collins, Hayden Welch, Cody and Kelsey Sheill. Elise is also survived by several nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
