Edith Shoob Karpf, 93, died peacefully at Buckingham South on Thursday.
She was born and raised in Savannah and graduated from local schools. She worked side-by-side for years with her husband in the family business, Punch & Judy. She was a woman who was ahead of her time, always stood up for what she believed in, and was a role model for her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Isadore M. Karpf, sister Gertie Sutker, son-in-law Stephen Krissman, and daughter-in-law Susan Wagger Karpf.
She is survived by her three children, Sally Karpf Krissman, Judge Michael L. Karpf, and Eric S. Karpf and his wife Linda; her three grandchildren, Laurie Krissman Noha (Wayne), Amy Krissman Pine (Jonah), and Benjamin Wagger Karpf (Suzy); and her four great-grandchildren, Sarah and Caleb Pine and Sammy and Charlie Karpf, all of Savannah. She is also survived by her brother Judge Marvin Shoob (Janice) and sister-in-law Florence Alterbaum, both of Atlanta, and several nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her wonderful and loving friend of 63 years, Evelyn Campbell of Detroit, formerly of Savannah.
The family is grateful to her caregivers over the last three years, including all the staff at Buckingham South.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
