Earl Nesbert Gleaton passed away peacefully on January 20, 2017. He was born in Savannah, Georgia on January 30, 1929 to parents Dr. Elzie Nesbert Gleaton and Nell Davis Gleaton, both deceased. He was also predeceased by his sister Jeanette Gleaton Smith.



He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan Ledbetter Gleaton and his three daughters, Laura Gleaton, Marianna Gleaton Pedrick (Jim), and Jenny Gleaton Minick (Mickey) all of Savannah. He had three grandchildren Brett Minick (Millie), Anna Minick and Thomas Pedrick. He also had a great grandchild, Brett Minick.?? Also surviving are two sisters, Ann Gleaton Page of Gainesville, FL and Helen Gleaton Kivett of Orlando, Fl. There are numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his sweet beagle, Molly.



Earl graduated from Savannah High School and University of Georgia with a degree in chemistry. He worked at Herty Foundation Laboratory for 32 years. He was an avid outdoors man who loved fishing, boating and hunting. He also loved music and was member of the St. John's Episcopal Church choir and Thirteenth Colony Sound. Earl was very handy and could fix anything. He loved to tinker in his workshop.



He was on the St. John's vestry many years ago. His love of sports was passed on to his grandchildren when he coached their baseball teams. He also coached pony league ball in his younger days.



The family would like to thank the staffs from Home Instead Senior Care and Azalealand Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion.



A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock, Monday at St. John's Episcopal Church.
