SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Earl Bumgardner, 92, of Savannah, Georgia, widower of Anna Harvey Bumgardner, died Friday afternoon, December 2, 2011, at Candler Hospital.
Born in Mooresville, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Avery V. Bumgardner and the late Bertha Fesperman Bumgardner. Mr. Bumgardner was of the Presbyterian faith and was retired after 40 years as Head Pressman from Union Camp. He was a resident of the Montgomery community for over 68 years. Mr. Bumgardner was a member of the Printers Union for 40 years and loved to hunt and fish. He will be best remembered for his garden in the Montgomery community. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Abbot.
Surviving are three sons, Earl Vernon Bumgardner, Edward "Ed" Harvey Bumgardner and his wife, Penny and Thomas "Tommy" Joseph Bumgardner and his wife, Tina, all of Savannah, Georgia; one granddaughter, Tami Waters; three grandsons, Brian, Matthew and Patrick Bumgardner; four step grandchildren, Jennifer Butler, Bobby Bell, Christi Bell, Laura Wilson; seven great grandchildren, Logan, Ethan, Briann, Drake, Peyton, Alex, Alexandra and many cousins in North Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Monday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Ken Philbeck. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
