SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Durward "Joe" Brinkley, 69, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Tammie Fox Brinkley, died Monday morning, April 30, 2012, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Laurens, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Durward Belmont Brinkley and the late Sarah Kathryn Brinkley. Before becoming Tammie's "Trophy Husband", he was a United States Navy Veteran, a Retired Banker, Telephony Entrepreneur, and a dealership consultant for Ford Motor Company. Joe was a musician and throughout his life, loved to hunt, fish, play golf, photography and have fun with family and friends. He also enjoyed taking drives in his rag top Miata with his wife, Tammie.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Tammie Fox Brinkley; two daughters, Debbie Brinkley and Christy Mullen and her husband, George, all of Savannah, Georgia; three sons, William Brinkley of Savannah, Georgia, Casey Brinkley and his wife, Haley, of Phoenix, Arizona, Ben Brinkley of Savannah, Georgia; two grandchildren, Madi Mullen and George Mullen, Jr.; two sisters, Joyce Smith, of Milledgeville, Georgia, Betty Monroe, of Alabama; two brothers, Tom Brinkley and Roger Brinkley both of South Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Wednesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Samuel W. Watkins. Interment will be private.
