Durell Lemuel Donaldson, 87, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Hazel Schwalls Donaldson, died Tuesday evening, April 29, 2014, at Hospice Savannah.
Born in Claxton, Georgia, he was a son of the late Lemuel Michael Donaldson and the late Mamie Mitchell Donaldson Nail.?? He graduated from Commercial High School and was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Donaldson retired from Union Camp after 45 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Curtis B. Nail, and his sister, Juanita 'Nita' Donaldson McDougald.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Hazel Schwalls Donaldson; three children, Linda Donaldson Doty, Theresa Donaldson Veale and David Donaldson; five grandchildren, Laura Doty Hesse, Marie Doty Burke, Lisa Berry Crowley, Becky Berry and James Waters, Jr., and a number of great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Friday in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend John A. Haney. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
