Dr. Sidney Shedrow, 96, Charleston, South Carolina and husband of the late Margaret Horowitz Shedrow, died Saturday morning, May 24, 2014, at Hospice of Charleston.



Born on January 4, 1918, in New York, New York, he was the son of the late Hyman and Sarah (Sonia) Schedrow. He received his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern Illinois School of Optometry and completed post-graduate work at Penn State University. He met and married Margie while he was stationed with the US Army Air Corps in Miami, Florida during WWII. Following the war, Sidney and Margie moved first to Cordele, Georgia and then to Savannah, Georgia where they raised four children. Sidney and Margie moved to Charleston, South Carolina in 2000.?? Sidney was a member of the Agudath Achim Synagogue. He was an optometrist, business owner, and inventor.?? He received four patents in the field of optometry. Sid was an avid tennis player, aspiring artist and musician, frustrated carpenter, and dog lover. He was a loving and caring father and husband and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.



Surviving are children, Barry Shedrow (Deb), Robyne Steinert (Charles), Michael Shedrow (Jill), and Jackie Shedrow; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.



The funeral will be held at 11 o'clock Sunday, May 25, 2014, at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, in Savannah, Georgia.
