Dr. Roslyn Seligman, 80, of Cincinnati, Ohio died Thursday afternoon, October 15, 2015 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
She was born in Augusta, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Isabelle Seligman and the late Reuben Seligman. She lived in Claxton, Georgia before entering the University of Georgia where she was a member of Delta Phi Epsilon sorority and then went on to medical school where she graduated in 1961 with a degree in Psychiatry. Roslyn was the first Jewish woman to graduate from the Medical College of Georgia. She did an internship at the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. Roslyn did her Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at University Hospital ' University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where she also completed her Residency in Psychiatry. She went on to practice Psychiatry for 50 years.
Roslyn is survived by her sister Pearl Friedenberg (Louis) of Savannah, her brother, Melvin Seligman (Barbara) of Atlanta; her nephews, Ricky Friedenberg (Barbara) of Savannah and Danny Seligman of Atlanta; her nieces, Sherry Friedenberg of Atlanta and Jill Goodman (Scott) of Orlando. She is also survived by her great-niece and great nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, October 18, 2015, at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, conducted by Rabbi Jeffrey Gordon.
