Eugene 'Gene' Calvin Millard of Savannah, Georgia died suddenly Monday evening, September 6, 2021. He was born June 14, 1946 in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania to the late Robert Wayne Millard Sr., and the late Mildred Miller Millard.
He was a graduate of Ridley Park High School in Pennsylvania and Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA with a BS in Chemistry. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA and graduated from The Institute of Paper Chemistry in Appleton, Wisconsin with a MS and PhD in paper chemistry.
He moved to Savannah, GA in 1976 and was employed by Continental Can in Port Wentworth, GA, which later became Stone Container. He also worked at Georgia Kraft in Rome, GA and Interstate Paper in Riceboro, GA. He retired from Interstate in December 2009 as Vice-President/General Manager.
After his retirement, Gene pursued his interests with passion. He became a Master Gardener and researched his immediate family, cousins, and interested friends on Ancestry.com. He enjoyed going online and looking at anything related to the Civil War. He got more involved playing his many stringed instruments and enjoyed entertaining everyone at our Super Bowl parties. His main priority was helping transport people with his son's business All About Medical Transport. He was comfortable talking with everyone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother, Robert Wayne Millard, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sharon 'Sherry' L. Weibley Millard; his son, Jason C. Millard (wife Rebecca 'Becky'); brother, Dave Millard (wife Marianne); sister-in-law, Cathy Weibley (Gary Hollenbeck) and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, September 26, 2021, with a memorial service to follow at 3 o'clock, at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, GA.
